Two ways to print a limit

Gorilla: "total weight capacity of up to 800 lbs" with "recommended for children ages 3-11" and the lumber behind it. KidKraft: "for up to 9 kids, ages 3-10 with a maximum weight of 110 lb per child." Neither is wrong, and neither is complete: Gorilla does not say what one swing station holds, KidKraft does not say what the whole set holds. A parent of a 115 lb 10-year-old is outside KidKraft's printed number and inside Gorilla's. The units across all brands are on swing set weight limit.

Chains, handles, slides

Gorilla prints rubber- or Plastisol-coated chains and recessed bolts on every set, and sells safety handles and 21 in metal handles as parts. KidKraft's Horizon Lookout prints plastic-coated chains; its Knox Peak prints side safety handles and a rope on the rock wall; its Flagstaff Fort prints a high-rail wave slide with a sloped edge for gentler landings, the only slide-edge design language we found on any listing. KidKraft's wood is described as "premium wood" with a UV- and mold-protected water-based stain; Gorilla's as natural cedar. Both satisfy CPSC's rot-resistant-or-treated rule; only one names the species.

Anchoring and warranty

Gorilla sells ground stakes in pairs and says to replace them annually; KidKraft's product pages do not describe anchoring at all, which costs it on the 20% anchoring metric even though the manual in the box may well include stakes. Warranty: Gorilla 10 years on lumber and 1 year on accessories; KidKraft's product pages link a warranty policy without printing a term on the page. CPSC's handbook says to follow the maker's anchoring instructions; for either brand, read the manual before the first swing, and if it is silent, use a kit from best swing set anchors.

Choose Gorilla if / choose KidKraft if

  • Choose Gorilla for printed lumber and an 800 lb total, recessed bolts, a 10-year lumber warranty, and hardware kits to expand.
  • Choose KidKraft for a per-child limit you can check against your kids, safety handles on the climb, high-rail slides, and factory UV/mold stain.
  • Both print ages 3-10 or 3-11; neither is an adult set.
