What wears out on a trampoline

In the order it happens: the spring pad (UV cracks the cover, the foam compresses), the net (mesh goes brittle at the pole sleeves, the zipper fails), the anchors (often never bought at all), and then the springs and mat. Makers' own warranties tell you the timeline: 1 year on pads and nets at Skywalker, Upper Bounce and ACON, 2 years at Zupapa. A family three years into a trampoline is jumping over a flat pad and a net that would tear if a child fell into it hard. CPSC's rules are that pads must completely cover the springs, hooks and frame, and that enclosures help prevent falls off, so a new pad or net is not a luxury gift; it is the part that puts the trampoline back inside the rules.

How to find their size without asking

Frame diameter. Ask what size it is in passing, or count the legs and pace it: a 12 ft is four paces across, a 15 ft is five. Pads and nets are sold by frame diameter.
Pole count and shape. Count the net poles in a photo: 6 or 8, straight or curved with a top ring. Nets are sold by that.
Brand and model. The sticker on the frame leg. Skywalker parts are sold by model code; Zupapa by model line. A universal pad by diameter avoids the question.
Frame height, for a ladder: Upper Bounce fits 37-41 in, Skywalker's under 36.5 in.
Leg tube diameter, for anchors: Skywalker's stakes fit up to 2 in.
