What CPSC says
"Do not use a ladder with the trampoline, because it provides unsupervised access by small children." That sentence sits beside the under-6 age rule in CPSC's trampoline guidance, and it is the reason this page opens with a warning rather than a pick. A 3 ft frame is a barrier to a 4-year-old; a ladder removes it. The honest use of a trampoline ladder is during a supervised session, hooked on when the session starts and taken off when it ends, which is why every ladder here is a hook-on, lift-off design and why removability counts in the install score. Several trampolines ship a ladder (Jumpzylla, ORCC, ACON); the rule applies to those too.
How we scored these
The accessories rubric (how we rate): safety design 30% (step width and surface, platform vs rung), fit range 20% (frame height and rail diameter in inches), material 20%, certification 15% (none named, all score 3), install 15% (assembly and removability). Upper Bounce leads for printing the fit range and the step width; Eurmax is the only one with a load rating, and loses on fit because its page prints no frame height.
Fit: frame height and rail size
A hook-on ladder has to reach the ground from the frame rail at a climbable angle, and its hook has to fit the rail. Upper Bounce prints 37 to 41 in frame heights for its swivel-hook models; Skywalker prints rails up to 4 in and frames under 36.5 in, and lists the models it fits. Frame heights on the trampolines we cover: Jumpflex 2.9 ft (about 35 in), ACON Air 15 35.8 in, AlleyOOP 14 35 in, Skywalker 15 ft under 36.5 in, AlleyOOP 10x17 40 in, ACON 16 HD 43 in. So a 12-15 ft round takes the Skywalker two-step or an Upper Bounce three-step at the low end of its range; a 43 in rectangle is beyond the Upper Bounce range and needs the maker's own ladder (ACON includes a 3-step).
Steps: flat platforms vs rungs
Bare feet on a round rung hurt and slip; a flat platform step (Upper Bounce's 3 in flat steps, Skywalker's wide slip-resistant plastic steps, Eurmax's skid-proof wide steps) is the design to buy. Rubber-tipped feet keep the base from sliding on grass. What none of the makers prints, except Eurmax, is a load rating; an adult stepping on a kids' ladder is the failure case, and only Eurmax has told you it is rated for 240 lb.
Who should skip all of these
Parents of children under 6, per CPSC, should not have a trampoline ladder at all. Owners of in-ground trampolines have no use for one, which is one of the in-ground design's real advantages (best in-ground trampoline kits). And anyone whose trampoline shipped a ladder (Jumpzylla, ORCC, ACON) already has one; the question for them is where it lives between sessions.
