Construction: what is at mat height

On a Springfree, the composite rods that replace springs sit below the mat, the SoftEdge mat replaces the spring pad, and the FlexiNet is carried on flexible rods, so a jumper who leaves the mat meets fabric and flex, not steel. On a Jumpflex HERO, 88 springs at 7.1 in sit outside a net that clips to the mat edge all the way round, and the eight net poles curve outward on a dual-ring frame of 1.7 in tube. Both keep the springs out of the play area; only Springfree removes the rigid elements entirely, which is the difference between a 10 and a 9 on our enclosure metric.

Limits, clearance, warranty

Limits. Springfree: 1500 lb tested capacity, 220 lb single jumper, on every model. Jumpflex HERO: 550 lb total, 350 lb individual; FLEX: 330 lb total, 220 lb individual. A parent over 220 lb is inside the rating on a HERO and outside it on any Springfree. Clearance. Springfree specifies 23 x 23 ft for the S155 and 20 x 20 ft for the R79 (5 ft clear each side); Jumpflex asks for its 15.1 ft footprint plus 3.3 ft all round for the HERO 14, roughly 21.7 ft. Warranty. Springfree: 10 years on all parts. Jumpflex: 10 years on the HERO frame, 5 on the FLEX frame; other parts not itemized on the product page. Anchoring. Both sell anchors separately: Springfree in sets of 4 (8 for Jumbo), Jumpflex as the ANCHORKIT and ANCHORKIT PRO. Kits compared on best trampoline anchors.

Choose Springfree if / choose Jumpflex if

  • Choose Springfree if every jumper is under 220 lb and the springless construction and 10-year all-parts warranty are what you are paying for.
  • Choose Jumpflex if adults will jump, you want a fully dimensioned spec sheet, or the price tier matters.
  • Choose the FLEX 12 or R79 if the yard is 20 ft square or less; both makers publish the space they need.

Questions parents ask

Is Jumpflex as safe as Springfree?
Close on the rubric. Jumpflex keeps springs and steel poles but puts the net inside the springs and curves the poles; Springfree removes both. Neither prevents on-mat collisions, which CPSC and the AAP identify as the main risk.
Which has the higher weight limit?
Jumpflex HERO: 350 lb per jumper. Springfree: 220 lb per jumper on every model.
Do either come with anchors?
No. Springfree sells Ground Anchor sets; Jumpflex sells the ANCHORKIT. Order one with the trampoline.
Which needs more yard?
