Skywalker Trampolines Review (15 ft Round): What the Spec Sheet Says, and What It Leaves Out

The no-gap net that Skywalker patented is still the reason to buy one. The straight poles, the separate wind stakes and the 1-year warranty on everything but the frame are the reasons to look at two alternatives first.

What the published page says

Skywalker's 15 ft Round product page lists: meets ASTM standards; patented no-gap enclosure (Patent RE45,182) that "eliminates dangerous gaps between the enclosure net and the jumping surface"; rust-resistant galvanized steel frame with reinforced T-sockets at each leg and enclosure joint; a "recommended individual user weight limit of 275 lbs" that "has been ASTM tested to withstand up to four times that amount"; a 1,100 lb weight capacity; dimensions of 9 ft H x 15 ft W; a tightly woven UV-protected polyethylene net and a UV-protected polypropylene mat; and a 3-year limited warranty on the frame with 1 year on the jump mat, springs, enclosure poles and other materials. Spring count is not on the 15 ft page (the 12 ft page lists 72). Pad thickness is not on the trampoline page; the replacement pad is listed at 1/2 in.

The no-gap enclosure

This is the design Skywalker built its name on. The net attaches to the jump mat's V-rings at every spring through reinforced button holes, so the springs sit outside the net under a vinyl-coated pad and there is no slot between net and mat for a foot. On our 30% enclosure metric it scores an 8: the attachment is as good as a sewn net, but the poles are straight foam-sleeved tubes rather than poles that curve away from the jumper, and the foam thickness is not published. Skywalker sells the complete enclosure kit (net plus six poles) by model code, which matters five years in; see best replacement nets.

The 275 lb limit and the 1,100 lb claim

Skywalker is unusually clear about its two numbers. The 275 lb figure is the recommended individual user weight; the 1,100 lb figure is the static load the frame, mat and springs withstood for five minutes with a loading disk, which Skywalker's own blog post on weight limits explains is four times the user weight per the ASTM method. That transparency earns an 8 on capacity. A 250 lb parent is inside the rating; a 300 lb one is not, and should look at Jumpflex's 350 lb HERO (trampoline weight limit).

Who it is wrong for

Anyone who wanted the anchors in the box: Skywalker sells 12.5 in wind stakes as a 4-pack and a ladder-plus- stakes kit separately. Anyone in an open, windy yard, for the same reason. Anyone who wants a long warranty on the net and pad, the parts that wear out: 1 year here, against 2 at Zupapa and 10 at AlleyOOP and Springfree. And per CPSC, anyone whose jumper is under 6.

Is Skywalker a good trampoline?
On published design, its no-gap net is among the best solutions to the net-mat gap, and it prints its limit and test method. It loses points for straight poles, separate stakes and a 1-year warranty on wear parts.
What is the Skywalker 15 ft weight limit?
275 lb recommended individual user weight, ASTM tested to four times that; the 1,100 lb figure is that static test load.
Does the Skywalker come with a ladder or anchors?
Not the Classic 15 ft. Skywalker sells wind stakes in a 4-pack and a wide-step ladder with stakes as separate accessories.
How long is the Skywalker warranty?
3 years on the frame and 1 year on the mat, springs, poles and other materials for the Classic series; the Signature series lists 7 and 3 years, and the USA-made 16 ft lists 10 years on frame and springs.
